Dragons was painted after a walk through Chinatown when NYC was just starting to open up again after the 2020 pandemic. Walking past the busy streets littered with fruit stands and seeing the resilience of these small business owners made me proud of my Asian heritage and inspired me to paint this work.

Dragon flies and dragon fruit are symbols of hope and victory in Asian culture. This work not only celebrates the renewed sense of hope and victory after a long pandemic but also serves as a reminder to find beauty even in the small, seemingly ordinary gifts nature gives us.
